Privacy Notice

1. Information we collect

You can upload, review, and edit a course without an account. If you choose Save across devices, we receive account information from Google through Firebase Authentication, including your name, email address, profile image, and account identifier. We then collect your declared country, state, province, or territory; age confirmation; and policy acceptance records.

When you use the service, we process syllabus text or files, extracted course information, dates, grading schemes, tasks, schedules, grade inputs, and saved course edits. We also process coarse country or regional signals supplied by Vercel for regional eligibility and security.

Before you sign in, your reviewed course information is stored only in your browser on the device you are using. It is sent to Syllabase only if you choose Save across devices. Browser data may be removed when you clear site data or use private browsing.

2. Why we use it

We use this information to authenticate you, verify regional and age eligibility, extract and organize syllabus information, save your reviewed courses, export calendars and account data, prevent abuse, secure the service, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or make syllabus content public.

3. AI processing and service providers

Google Gemini processes syllabus text or files to produce a structured draft. Syllabase does not retain the raw uploaded file after the extraction request, but extracted information is saved when you choose to save a course. Paid Gemini service data is subject to Google’s service and abuse-monitoring terms and may be processed outside your province, state, or country.

Firebase provides authentication and database services. Vercel hosts the application and provides aggregate, cookie-free web analytics and coarse request-region headers. These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms.

4. Retention

Guest gradebook information remains in your browser until you clear site data, the browser removes it, or it is transferred to your account. Saved account and course information remains until you delete a course or your account, unless a longer period is required for security or legal reasons. Raw uploads are not stored by Syllabase. Security and AI provider logs are retained only for configured operational and abuse-prevention periods.

5. Your choices and rights

You can correct saved course information in the app, export your account data, delete individual courses, or delete your account. You may also request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us. Legal limits may apply.

Withdrawing required processing consent means the authenticated service can no longer be provided. You can withdraw by deleting your account.

6. Safeguards and incidents

We use authentication, App Check, access controls, server-side authorization, input limits, audit logging without syllabus content, and restrictive database rules. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

We assess security incidents and provide legally required notices, including Canadian notices when a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.

7. Adults and availability

Syllabase is for people aged 18 or older and is currently available only to residents of the United States and Canada. We do not knowingly provide the authenticated service to minors.
